Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, both husband and wife and founding members of the punk rock band the Cramps, are the leading characters in this painting. They symbolize the husband and wife Haitian loas Damballah and Ayida-Weddo, who are represented by snakes and offerings of white chickens and eggs. Ayida-Weddo is known for carrying an amulet which has hypnotized the Creature of the Black Lagoon and the beach babe into participating in their hybrid Haitian / Psychobilly offerings to the spirit world of the loa.
